Anastrozole in Research

Anastrozole belongs to the class of chemicals known as aromatase inhibitors. Anastrozole temporarily blocks the activities of the Aromatase Enzyme. The Aromatase Enzyme is the enzyme that is responsible for the conversion of testosterone in to estrogen. This conversion process is called aromatization and there are several other compounds such as Letrozole and Exemestane that act in similar manners with some very important distinctions.

All Aromatase Inhibitors work to dramatically lower estrogen levels. They are what are known as non-steroidal aromatase inhibitors.
